So you thought we'd been idle for a while?
Wrong!
O.K., Martin's been to visit his good ol' country of Canadia, checking
out his mate Stefie Shocks' latest, but that was only for a month.
Sean's been to Pembrokeshire and I've been to Cornwall.
In the meantime, Prints have been busy recording 122 tunes.....then
whittling them down to a mere 30 for possible inclusion on a brand new
long player.
It's gonna be grand.
During the absence of the lesser spotted
Dupras Sean and I resumed our long running and occasional project, Informed
Speculators. We recorded a mini album, recorded on analogue tape, entitled
"Quoi pas de francais?". Now available through our mail order service,
it's part of the hermit studio commitment to recording performances
of music from the medieval to the contemporary Elizabethan era played
on original instruments or present day digital cousins and based on
the most recent research into the original text, instrumentation and
performing styles of each period.
"From the unbearably pleasant to the almost unlistenable"
My acoustic duo,We Could Go Electricb (featuring the whacky world of
Mike Ramsdale), also continue working on new material and the drfar
series continues apace.
So, plenty of new recordings to look forward to but what about live
gigs?
Our last one was in Black Dog, a village in Devon. It was a fine evening
celebrating the miracle of Don's 40th.
We'd like to see it become an annual event.
Dupras (being a rough, tough Canadian type chappie) hated camping out
(that was probably the French bit in him)proclaiming that was the first
and last time, EVER!, but, the beer was good and, apart from a bus load
of very noisy hippies and a couple of lost souls colliding with the
tent and the anti-Thatcherism rantings (bit late for that chaps !) ....,
the people were nice.
A Special "Hi" goes to Hum (he didn't - well, not 'till the morning).
That was in the summer....
More gigs to follow, watch this space.
Dave.
